Well, although the month is almost over, June is Migraine and Headache Awareness Month! I’m late but better late than never they say. This has been quite the month and I’ve been all over the place. However, I wanted to make sure I wrote a blog about migraines. Why? Well, I’ve been suffering from migraines since I was in high school. It’s one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced. Actually they’re the most painful things I’ve ever experienced. I would never wish them on anyone; not even my worst enemy.

My migraines are always on the right side of my head. The pain usually starts around my temple. I almost always get a warning. If I catch it in time, the medication will work and I won’t get a full blown one. Medication can work within fifteen minutes and I’ll be fine. If not, I feel like someone is sticking a needle into my temple and squeezing my vein with tweezers. Also the throbbing is so bad it’s like someone hit me with a bat. I feel extremely nauseous and dizzy.

Sad thing, I can’t lay down because it makes my head feel worse. Literally nothing makes me feel better. I’m sensitive to light. Loud sounds are the worse. The only thing that seems good is death. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to just die from having such horrendous migraines. I thought to myself if I died I wouldn’t feel the pain anymore. Yes, that’s how bad my migraines have been in the past.

Please understand a migraine is not the same thing as a regular headache. People that suffer from migraines can’t just take regular over the counter medication. That doesn’t work for us. Most of us can’t function when we have a migraine. Having migraines is kinda like having an illness and it sucks.

I am now on preventive medicine. We’ll see how this goes. Say prayers for me. Let me know what works for you if you suffer from migraines! I prefer natural products……..
